Images of reptiles found across the New Forest. The UK has only six native reptiles and all six can be found in the Forest – adder, grass snake, smooth snake slow worm, common lizard and sand lizard. Of all six species, the adder is most commonly seen in the Forest. All are cold blooded species who need the sun to warm up their bodies before they become active and adders, in particular, are often seen basking on or at the side of a gravel track. However, if you want to see all six in one go, head to the New Forest Reptile Centre on a sunny day and you should be able to see them. It’s there that most of these pics were taken.
